This summer Paradise Place School has been fortunate to have the sponsorship of Genesis Raw Foods, a nutrition and wellness based business that is new to the Gunnison Valley. Laurel Marr, Owner of Genesis Raw Food & Paradise Place Board Member, has been generous to donate her time and business to a successful fundraising effort this summer and fall. The series of Raw Food Classes and fundraising events kicked off during the 2010 Crested Butte Wildflower Festival with a Raw Foods Dinner and Wine Pairing at the Tipple House in Mt. Crested Butte.
On August 3rd, 2010 children from around the Crested Butte community were invited to the UCC to participate in a Kid’s Raw Foods Cooking Class. Laurel, Mr. Ben, and other parents volunteered their time to demonstrate how to create green smoothies, berry parfait, lettuce wraps and pizza rolls with locally grown, organic produce provided by Genesis Raw Food and Local Farms First. Then it was time for the kids to take a crack at these delicious creations…
