Paradise Place 4th of July Parade 2010

We are so delighted to be starting a new school year with you, the new and returning families of Paradise Place School.  This year, we are excited about using our NEW WEBSITE to update you on news, events and even snack calendars at the school!  Please take the time to familiarize yourself with all the new site has to offer including:

POSTING & COMMENTS: Each month we will post the Paradise Place Newsletter to the site as well as Event Updates, Fundraising Information &  Fun Activity Pages.  Once the information is posted to the site you may comment on any of the posts that we put on the site!  You can use comments to organize rides, share info about upcoming activities and events at the school or around CB, organize pot lucks for our annual christmas show or picnic or just let us know how you are doing.  We encourage you to use the site’s commenting feature to communicate with each other and with teachers and staff, however, it is important to keep your child’s personal information and whereabouts private so please do not include this kind of information in your comments.   Our most recent posts are listed on the website in the right hand ‘sidebar’.

NEWSLETTERS: Parents and Board Members are automatically included in our mailing list.  If you or anyone you know would like to receive our monthly newsletter please sign up on the website.   You can use the registration box in the right hand sidebar or go to the Newsletter Registration Page.   If you are a Parent or Board Member and are not receiving our email updates please sign up on the site or contact Mr. Ben to get registered. PROGRAMS PAGE: Stay up to date on your child’s Paradise Place class, rates, registration info and link to the 2010-11 Student Handbook.

PARADISE PARENTS LINKS: Found at the bottom left of every page on our site, see what business and services Parents of Paradise Place provide to the community.  If you would like to add your link to the list, or make a correction to an existing link please email your website address to Mr. Ben.

COMING SOON & SITE SUGGESTIONS: In the future we are planning to add ‘Activities Posts’, these will include activities you can try with your child at home, and often printable coloring or activity sheets!  We also plan to create a Donations Page on the site as soon as possible!  If you have any suggestions for new posts, new pages or other information that should be included on the site please email Mr. Ben anytime.

Thanks for your support we love the new site and we hope you and your family finds it resourceful too!

The Pyramid Model

This year Paradise Place School will partner with the Gunnison-Hinsdale Early Childhood Council in an effort to participate in a community-wide initiative that will focus on social and emotional development for children called the Pyramid Model.

The Pyramid Model developed by CSEFEL The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) is focused on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age 5. CSEFEL is a national resource center funded by the Office of Head Start and Child Care Bureau for disseminating research and evidence-based practices to early childhood programs across the country.

The goals of the Pyramid Model are to help children:

  • feel loved, safe and special
  • feel competent and confident about all the things they can do
  • build relationships
  • develop friendships
  • learn how to follow directions
  • learn to manage their emotions
  • let us know what their behavior is trying to communicate, and
  • learn new skills to replace challenging behavior

You will receive information throughout the school year about this initiative and be invited to a parent night to learn more.  In the meantime, please call Ben Poswalk or speak with your child’s teacher at Paradise Place to see how we are implementing the Pyramid Model in our classrooms.  Our staff will be happy to show you how your child’s learning environment, relationships with peers and adults, and social-emotional curriculum are working together to buiold the skills they need for the foundation of school readiness and success.
